About Us

Our goal is to foster a sense of family in our restaurants, and give you the feeling as if you were at the table with our family.

Our Origins: Generational Influence

Kit Wong started his culinary career as a busboy in the restaurants of New Orleans and has worked his way up one of the most challenging career ladders to where he is today. Throughout the years, he has passed his knowledge and experience down to his children, and that legacy continues with Boru. The Wong family group of restaurants have been icons in the Baton Rouge community for the last 45 years, starting with Chinese Inn.

Ramen is synonmous with Japanese culture, and Tokyo is the the home of some of the best ramen in the world. Executive chef Patrick Wong has trained not only in Tokyo kitchens, but also in Manhattan at Ramen Shack under world renown ramen chef Keizo Shimamoto.

Our Future: Investing In Baton Rouge

Since founding Ichiban Sushi over 23 years ago, our family has continued to invest in Baton Rouge by creating authentic dining experiences that celebrate culture and community. From Ichiban’s sushi and hibachi to Boru Ramen’s house-made noodles and 24-hour broths, every concept reflects our passion for excellence, hospitality, and the city we proudly call home—and our journey is just getting started.
